Sergio quickly became a household name when he turned pro in 1999 and hit the ground running. Who could forget Sergio Garcia’s six-iron at the 1999 PGA Championship against Tiger Woods? If Tiger didn’t play well, Sergio could have won his first major long ago.
Sergio Garcia and the Majors
Sergio is now considered the best player in golf who hasn’t won a major. He drives the ball better than anyone in the top ten and hits his iron shots as well as anyone. If he can just putt half decently in pressure situations, he will win lots of majors.
Garcia is too good to be denied a major (actually, he’s been closer to the win than Phil Michelson ever was before he won). He sometimes has a tenancy to blame others when he doesn’t win and thus get himself into trouble with the media but I still hope he wins. He’s that good.

I agree with your opinion of Sergio. He is definitely one of the best (if not the best) ball striker. If only he can putt! I wish he still has that youthful / fun attitude though. I bet that’d add a lot of value to the tour.
We’ve been waiting … and waiting … and waiting. We’re still rooting for him but I think our sights will be set elsewhere if he still doesn’t win a major in 2010.
